by Merlin57 2 weeks, 4 days agoIf I look at pictures of the type of harness used on horses to pull barges along a river, I can see where the idea of a 'filet' or 'net' might come in, but in English I think the translation needs to be harness.
My suggestion would be: they were entirely covered by a harness with long swaying fringes that reached below their bellies;
I would also use 'adorned' for 'remplis de piécettes d’or et d’argent' - their heads were loaded with tassels adorned with gold and silver coins, . . .
