Ameland is one of the Wadden-islands north of the Waddenzee in the Netherlands. Look at a map of the Netherlands: the islands are from west to east: Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland, Schiermonnikoog and Rottum. The islands have small towns/villages. Because of their location and beaches they are popular with tourists. Further east there are other islands that are part of Germany.
