As I was writing this story, I located some books about traveling the hippy trail. One of them, ‘Far Out’, by Mark Liechty, published in 2017 by The University of Chicago Press, traces the evolution of tourism in Nepal. Very illuminating.

It will be a great addition to your family history and I'm sure interesting for the coming generations to read. You probably travelled to these places at the best and most interesting time. I was in Nepal about 20 years later than you in the mid 80's and the effects of modern, Western Tourism were already very marked.
