Mark - the sentence 'In that case, apart from telling her the truth and hoping she has a great sense of humour.' is an incomplete sentence. If we are to write it like this, then it needs to end with . . . to show that it is incomplete.
Otherwise one could perhaps write:
. . . Alex – Then maybe you should tell her the truth and hope she has a great sense of humour.
