Thank you, Wendy!
I'll leave it up to you. I just think that école and cimetière are places... so to keep the same idea, "cemetery" is a bit closer to the structure of the expression.
What do you think?

France, tu es géniale ! Pourquoi n'y ai-je pas pensé ? C'est tout à fait logique maintenant. Que penses-tu de ce qui suit ?
Let's skip the cemetery / ou / Let's skip the burial ?
They already talked about not going to the funeral, which is why I think now they are specifically referring to not going to the cemetery, or skipping the burial which takes place at the cemetery. Which one do you think would fit better?

Wendy,
How about ... to skip the funeral?

IMerci France, okay, I was hoping it would be the above meaning, because I too have no idea how to translate the pun. I'll have to have a think about that. Maybe Mark has some thoughts?

Hello Wendy,
This expression refers to "faire l'école buissonnière". More info here:

I have no idea how to translate Jean-Pierre Martnez 's pun!

The word 'buissonier' is new for me, and sent me off on a journey of discovery: I found the meanings of 'bushy or shrubby', of 'playing truant' from school or work, etc.
I've used the word 'unkempt' to describe a place that is not 'neat and tidy', but a little neglected and wild and partially gone back to nature.
I wonder France, if I'm on the right track here?
