When Alkmene gave birth to Heracles, she believed he would not be safe in the palace from the mother of the gods, so she took him and left him at a place, which was still known in later times as the Field of Heracles.

Discussion

Hallo Omega, abandoned has the connotation of not being wanted, whereas the mother wanted the child, only his life would be in danger if she kept him. Therefore I would prefer not to use the word 'abandoned ' ;-))

Danke dir :-).

Vorschlag Omega: 'When Alkmene gave birth to Heracles, she believed he would not be safe in the palace from the mother of the gods, so she took him and left him at a place, which was still known in later times as the Field of Heracles.'
