"Presentiment" may actually be a more accurate translation but the one I'm proposing may be closer to how simpler folks would express it, with just a hint at having psychic ability. Whenever I hear "aner" it's in the negative like "Jeg aner ikke hva du snakker om", "I have no idea what you're talking about", like in German, "ich hab' keine Ahnung...". In American English of 60 or more years ago, they often used phrases like "she had an idea you were coming...", meaning she had a premonition. So "maybe she knows something now" carries that feeling with it without using elevated vocabulary.
