One of the oldest members of the team, one of those who had been sitting silently chewing on his pipe, now stood up. It was the master-pilot, a stout, broad-chested figure, whose gentle, perfectly light blue eyes sparkled so strangely childishly in his tanned, red-bearded face. He was probably over seventy years old, but healthy and hard as an oak tree.

- We have settled on "the master-pilot" for losoldermannen. I will go through this chapter and try to find all occurrences and make it consistent.

Discussion
The term 'senior elder' has been used consistently in the translation from the German text. If the 'edit translation' option is not available, you have to submit a new translation.
by markvanroode 1 month agoEven more accurate would be "pilots elder", or "senior pilot". According to Store Norske Leksikon, the term elder is a very old occupational term from the Middle Ages, and generally refers to the leader of a guild. The term foreman is closely related. A pilot is a person with maritime knowledge who, for a fee, guides ships during navigation in coastal waters. The term "lighthouse keeper" was probably a machine translation that slipped by me. But now I'm at a loss to make the desired corrections as these have evidently already been promoted and there is no Edit option.
by DavidKenstad 1 month agoAfter researching mainly in the Store Norske Leksikon, I wish to change all instances of "lighthouse keeper" to "elder pilot".
