PEREGRINAGGIO DI TRE GIOVANI FIGLIUOLI DEL RE DI SERENDIPPO - PROLOGO Fu anticamente nelle parti orientali, nel paese di Serendippo uno grande, et potente Re nominato Giaffer, il quale ritrovandosi tre figliuoli maschi, et conoscendo di dover quelli lasciar signori di gran potere, come saggio, et amorevol padre, dilibero anco di lasciarli di tutte quelle virtu dotati, che à prencipi sono richieste.

THE PEREGRINATION OF THREE YOUNG SONS OF THE KING OF SERENDIP - PROLOGUE. In ancient times, in the eastern parts, in the country  of Serendippo lived a great and powerful king, named Giaffer, who found himself the father of three male children, and knowing, as a wise and loving father he had to leave them as lords of great power and bestow them also diligently with all those gifted virtues which princes require.
