Mark - 'Bonjour . . . Mes hommages du soir . . . ' The literal translation sounds rather strange in English. Can I suggest that we simply translate it as:
Good evening, Madame . . . I am here to investigate . . . ?
(Saying 'Good day and then . . evening greetings . . .' sounds very contradictory in English)
