Cloudless, pierced by a single star, a copper-green sky glowed through the windows.

Concur with that. Then consider, " ... a copper-green sky glimmered through the windows." Glimmer indicates a paler, weaker and more romantic "glow". "Glow" would suggest a constant dim illumination such as from an airplane's instruments.
