Not in meaning, in fact "expressed yourself..." is just a literal translation of uttalte deg. I could easily go along with "made prophesies". In fact, I'll upvote it.

So if Elvestad here was paying homage to classical literature I would translate it as "...and expressed yourself in prophesies...". Or was the shoemaker calling the sail maker a Cassandra? ;-) She was cursed so t hat her predictions never came true.

In McKay's Modern Norwegian and in ordbøkene.no, for 'forjettelse' I only find løfte or 'promise' in English. Although the shoemaker is describing weather forecasting, which is a kind of prophesy, wasn't the sail maker being hopeful, which would be more like a promise? Instead of "and made prophesies" may I suggest "and spoke in promises"?
