The original copy of the Hunminjeongeum Haerye, missing for several centuries, was rediscovered in 1940 in the city of Andong in North Gyeongsang province; it has been designated a National Treasure of South Korea and was inscribed in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register in 1997.
