My high school English teacher in 9th grade, Miss Johnson, was a great motivator. She was also the coach of the debate team - I went out of my comfort zone and joined the debate team, and actually became quite good at debating. In the end I helped our team win 4 out of 4 debates and finish on top in the final tournament. I really liked Miss Johnson. A funny memory, she used to drive us in her VW Beetle to debates in places like Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois, even in the snow. Those were fun times.
