Discussion
Wendy... ich bin begeistert, weil du so schön hilfst!
by lollo1a 7 years, 3 months agoDu bestätigst in vollem Umfang meinen Vorschlag ganz unten: „ onTHE alert“ und auch meine Bedenken gegen „all eye“.
Danke schön! :-))
Wenn man diesen Satz mit dem nächsten liest, dann würde ich sagen, 'We were all on THE alert' am besten passen würde. On THE alert, weil, es keine allgemeine Alarmbereitschaft ist, sondern nur für diese bestimmte Situation, wo sie auf der Hut sind, falls es irgendeinden Streich gibt.
by Merlin57 7 years, 3 months agoThey are on the alert for anything that could point to trickery. For me 'all eyes' has a somewhat different meaning - to watch or observe something with a lot of interest, but it does not include the fact that they are on the lookout for possible trickery.
Mich würde hier auch Wendys oder Bernard's Meinung interessieren..aber danke vorab James..interessante Erklärung!
by anitafunny 7 years, 3 months ago"On our guard" implies that something bad is about to happen. "All alert" means completely alert: If you are alert, you are paying full attention to things around you and are able to deal with anything that might happen. "On alert" is something more formal: If soldiers or police are on alert, they are ready to deal with anything that may happen.
by DrWho 7 years, 3 months agoI think "all alert" or "all eyes" covers the situation here. ... :-)

by anitafunny 7 years, 3 months agoVorschlag....We were all highly concentrated..?...wir waren alle hochkonzentriert??

I too saw that, however, i didn't think "on the alert" fit exactly. I've made another attempt using an idiom in English: all eyes: Watching or ready to watch something intently.
by DrWho 7 years, 3 months agoJames ... besser: On the alert... auf der Hut/ in Alarmbereitschaft...kommt aus dem Französischen: https://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/Quivive
