Kapitel 1 Ich wurde im Jahre 1632 in York, England, geboren. Mein Vater war Deutscher und meine Mutter Engländerin. Der Name meines Vaters war Kreutznaer, aber die Leute in England begannen, ihn Crusoe zu nennen. Die Familie meiner Mutter wurde Robinson genannt. Darum hieß ich Robinson Crusoe.

Ich hatte zwei ältere Brüder. Der Älteste schloss sich der Armee an und wurde im Kampf getötet. Der Mittlere verschwand, und wir hörten nichts mehr von ihm. Ich war wohlerzogen und mein Vater wollte, dass ich Jura studiere, aber ich wollte zur See gehen. Nichts konnte mich zwingen, zu Hause zu bleiben und Anwalt zu werden.

Ich war 18 Jahre alt, als mein Vater mich in sein Zimmer rief. Er war alt und krank und er musste im Bett bleiben. Mein Vater wollte wissen, warum ich zur See gehen wollte. Ich könnte doch zu Hause bleiben, studieren und glücklich in meinem Land leben. Er erzählte mir, dass zur See zu fahren gefährlich wäre. Er warnte mich, dass ich den Frieden und die Geborgenheit meines Zuhauses verlieren würde, wenn ich zur See ginge. Mein Vater sagte mir auch, wenn ich ins Ausland ginge, könnte ich sterben so, wie mein ältester Bruder. Er begann zu weinen und konnte nicht fortfahren.

Der Rat und die Warnungen meines Vaters brachten mich zum Nachdenken. Nach und nach vergaß ich meinen Traum, zur See zu fahren. Mein Entschluss, zu Hause zu bleiben, hielt jedoch nicht lange an. Ich beschloss, mit meiner Mutter zu sprechen und ihr zu sagen, dass ich reisen wollte. Ich sagte ihr, wie gerne ich gehen würde. Ich sagte ihr, wie gerne ich die Welt sehen würde. Ich bat sie, mit meinem Vater zu sprechen, da ich wollte, dass sie meinen Vater umstimmt. Ich versprach ihr, dass ich zurückkommen würde, wenn ich das Meer nicht mögen würde. Meine Mutter war nicht einverstanden. Sie wollte auch nicht, dass ich ins Ausland gehe.

Ich blieb noch ein Jahr zu Hause. Ich habe die ganze Zeit über meine Eltern und meine Träume nachgedacht. Ich war eines Tages im September in der Stadt Hull. Einer meiner Freunde fuhr mit dem Schiff seines Vaters nach London. Ich wurde eingeladen, ihn kostenlos zu begleiten. Ich war nicht vorbereitet und meine Eltern wussten nichts davon, aber ich war an diesem Septembertag auf dem Schiff.
So begannen meine traurigen Abenteuer.

Chapter 1

I was born in York, England in 1632. My father was German and my mother was English. My father’s name was Kreutznaer, but people in England started to call him Crusoe. My mother’s family was called Robinson. This is why I am called Robinson Crusoe.

I wasn’t prepared and my parents didn’t know about this, but I got on the ship on that September day.
